CH 5

Chapter 5 discusses interactive and kinetic poetry. They both explore specific multimedia capacities of the contemporary computer (118). It is poetry that manipulates time and motion.
The piece "dear e.e" had a lot going and it was very difficult to maintain your focus on what you were reading. The sound dimension of kinetic poetry really threw me off guard. Everything about it was very distracting and hard to comprehend. Twine was way more interesting and different than what I thought. Having something that was easy to go through and very organized was a big change from "dear e.e". Choosing your own path and having the ability to form your own story allowed for the process to flow and made you feel more involved in what you were doing. The interactive process is way more appealing and organized.

  1. I agree with you that the sound was very distracting, but I also think that is supposed to be part of the experience. It is cool how immersive interactive and kinetic poetry are compared to the experience of reading a book and imagining everything in your head. Digital literature allows the reader to get a better idea of what the author was picturing when they wrote the story.
